PRESS RELEASE: Washington Clean Energy Economy Has Driven Job Growth – Pew Charitable Trusts, June 10, 2009

Washington has a large and growing piece of America's clean energy economy. The
state's number of clean energy economy jobs as of 2007 exceeded the
national average. The state ranks fourth nationally in attracting clean
technology venture capital—more than $635 million in the past three years.
Seventy percent of these investments have been made in the category of
Clean Energy, a sector in which the state experienced 52 percent job
growth between 1998 and 2007. Washington created a Sustainable Energy
Trust Fund in 2009 to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy
projects by property owners.
