PRESS RELEASE: Montana Clean Energy Economy Poised for Growth Pew Charitable Trusts, June 10, 2009

Montana has a small but growing piece of America’s clean energy economy. Montana
is one of just a few states where total job growth outpaced job growth in
the clean energy economy between 1998 and 2007. But the state has
attracted an increasing number of jobs in the clean energy economy,
despite a lack of venture capital investments and little research activity in
clean technologies. The state has introduced one incentive to boost these
jobs—a property tax exemption for buildings using renewable energy. The
exemption covers up to $20,000 for single-family residences and up to
$100,000 for multifamily dwellings or nonresidential structures.
