PRESS RELEASE: Missouri Clean Energy Economy Jobs Grew 2.5 Times Faster than Overall Jobs Pew Charitable Trusts, June 10, 2009

Missouri has a small but growing piece of America's clean energy economy. Jobs in its
clean energy economy grew more quickly than total jobs in the state
between 1998 and 2007. The Show Me State attracted more than $24
million in clean technology venture capital in the past three years, with the
majority of investments in the category of Clean Energy. Although Missouri
is not commonly considered to be a state with high wind-power potential,
advances in wind turbine technology have enabled the state to develop a
burgeoning wind industry. In 2008, Rock Port, Missouri, became the first
community in the United States to be powered exclusively by wind.
