PRESS RELEASE: Iowa Clean Energy Economy Jobs Grew Faster than Overall Jobs Pew Charitable Trusts, June 10, 2009

Iowa has a small but fast-growing piece of America's clean energy economy. The
Hawkeye State's jobs in the clean energy economy grew from just more
than 6,000 in 1998 to more than 7,700 in 2007, a much faster growth rate
than that of the state's total jobs. According to the American Wind Energy
Association, wind power now provides 5.5 percent of the electricity
generated in Iowa, the highest percentage of any state.1 In the past three
years, Iowa ranked 11th in venture capital funding, attracting more than
$149 million, primarily in clean energy generation.
