PRESS RELEASE: Delaware Clean Energy Economy Has Driven Jobs, But Needs Policy Boost to Continue Growth Pew Charitable Trusts, June 10, 2009

Delaware has a small but growing piece of America's clean energy economy. In 2004,
DuPont's environmental research facilities in Wilmington cut jobs; partially
as a result, although on average, Delaware's clean energy economy grew, its
relative growth in these jobs declined slightly between 1998 and 2007.
However, jobs in the clean energy economy began to rebound between
2004 and 2007—a trend that should continue thanks to the state's doubling
of its renewable energy requirement for electric utilities from 10 percent to
20 percent by 2019.1 Delaware also attracted more than $3.3 million in
venture capital in the past three years.
